This research is a study on increasing the ability to recognize numbers
through the method of playing using the number tower media. The background of
this research is the ability to recognize the number of students is still low. It is
evident from the 20 children, only 5 students or 25% are included in the BSB and
BSH categories. The purpose of this study was to prove that the use of the method
of playing with number tower media can improve the ability to recognize numbers
in Group B children in Pertiwi Alasdowo Kindergarten, Dukuhseti District, Pati
Regency.
This research is classified as Classroom Action Research. The action plan
consists of two cycles, namely: cycle I, and cycle II with each cycle having two
meetings, with each cycle consisting of four stages, namely: planning,
implementing actions, observing and reflecting. The subjects studied were 20
children in group B of Pertiwi Alasdowo Kindergarten, Dukuhseti District, Pati
Regency, consisting of 11 boys and 9 girls. Data collection techniques include
observation, interviews and documentation. While the data analysis techniques
include: qualitative analysis and comparative analysis by calculating the
percentage of children's cognitive abilities which are then compared to the
percentage of completeness pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II.
The results of the study prove that the application of the play method using
the number tower media can improve the ability to recognize numbers in group B
children in Pertiwi Alasdowo Kindergarten, Dukuhseti District, Pati Regency. It
is evident from the increase in the ability to recognize the number of children who
are categorized as very well developed (BSB) and developing according to
expectations (BSH) in the new pre-cycle by 25%. Then it increased in the first
cycle of meeting 1 to 45% and meeting 2 to 60%, in the second cycle meeting 1
became 75% and meeting 2 became 95%. It is known that there is an increase of
70%.
