Development in children can be obtained through the process of learning
and playing. By going through the process of learning and playing, children can
recognize the world that is around them, both the people around them or the
objects that are found by children when children play. This study aims to find out
and prove the use of the play method through balloon science activities in
improving the cognitive abilities of children aged 4-5 years at KB Kartini
Karangrayung, Grobogan Regency. In addition, to describe the use of the play
method through balloon science activities in improving the cognitive abilities of
children aged 4-5 years at KB Kartini Karangrayung, Grobogan Regency.
The research approach used in this research is classroom action research
or PTK. The research design uses a qualitative-interactive approach with CAR
design, as a collaborative CAR model because researchers collaborate with
colleagues who act as collaborators. The subjects in this study were 16 children
aged 4-5 years at KB Kartini Karangrayung, Grobogan Regency.
The results showed that the use of the play method through balloon science
activities succeeded in increasing the cognitive abilities of children aged 4-5 years
at the Kartini Karangrayung KB, Grobogan Regency. This is evidenced by the
cognitive improvement of children who achieve the complete criteria, namely BSH
(Developing According to Expectations) and BSB (Developing Very Well) in the
Pre-Cycle of 3 children or by 18%, in Cycle I Meeting 1st by 7 children or by
41%. , in Cycle I the 2nd Meeting there were 8 children or 47%, in Cycle I the 3rd
Meeting there were 9 children or 53%, in Cycle II the 1st Meeting there were 11
children or 65%, in Cycle II Meeting In the second, there were 13 children or
76%, and in Cycle II, the 3rd meeting, there were 15 children or 88%. This study
shows that the use of experimental methods with balloons can improve the ability
to know science beginning in early childhood. In this study, the experimental
method with balloons was used to help children understand science concepts
better through hands-on experience and to provide opportunities for them to find
answers to scientific questions in a fun and interactive way
