The development of children in the KB Jumo Village, Kedungjati District,
Grobogan Regency found obstacles to counting activities, namely that most
children still had difficulties in addition and subtraction activities. The
implementation of this research has objectives which include: 1. To examine the
understanding of early math skills in children at KB Melati, Jumo Village,
Kedungjati District, Grobogan Regency; 2. To describe the implementation of
problem solving methods through funnel numbers in improving early math skills
in children at KB Melati, Jumo Village, Kedungjati District, Grobogan Regency;
3. To find out changes in children's behavior in the implementation of problem
solving methods through funnel numbers in KB Melati, Jumo Village, Kedungjati
District, Grobogan Regency.
The research approach used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This
classroom action research was carried out at the KB Jumo Village, Kedungjati
District, Grobogan Regency. The subjects of this study were all children in the
group of 4-6 year old children in the KB Jumo Village, Kedungjati District,
Grobogan Regency, totaling 17 children, while the teacher functioned as the
executor of class action and other teachers as observers.
The results showed that 1. The understanding of early mathematical abilities in
children in KB Melati, Jumo Village, Kedungjati District, Grobogan Regency,
namely children who reached the complete criteria, namely BSH (Developing
According to Expectations) and BSB (Developing Very Well) in the Pre Cycle a
total of 3 children or equal to 19%, in Cycle I 1st Meeting there were 6 children or
38%, in Cycle I 2nd Meeting there were 8 children or 50%, in Cycle I 3rd Meeting
there were 10 children or 63%, in Cycle I 3rd Meeting II meeting of the 1st, there
were 11 children or 69%, in Cycle II of the 2nd meeting, there were 12 children or
75%, and in Cycle II, the 3rd meeting, there were 14 children or 88%; 2. The
implementation of the problem solving method through number funnels in
improving initial math skills is carried out in several steps, namely: preparation,
introduction of number funnels, problem solving, evaluation, and repetition; 3.
Changes in children's behavior in implementing problem solving methods through
funnel numbers in KB Melati, Jumo Village, Kedungjati District, Grobogan
Regency, including: increasing children's logical and analytical thinking skills,
increasing mathematical concepts visually and interactively using interesting
tools. In addition, through this implementation it has succeeded in increasing
children's interest and enthusiasm in learning counting
